The current prices on the European carbon market are as follows:
EUA carbon price remains in August range between 25 and 27.50 EUR roughly. Currently it is in the middle of this range with December 2020 future contract trading at 26.20 EUR. Volatility remains low and is expected to increase with beginning of next month when market participants return from holidays and primary auctions volumes return to normal. Auctions were better subscribed in the past week and auctions results were stronger which supported the market to bounce quickly from 25 EUR level. Many EU ETS registries experienced technical difficulties on Wednesday preventing companies to enter their registries or conclude transactions. Service desk is still trying to resolve the problem.
Other European energy markets were mixed this week. German front year power contract is currently trading just below 40 EUR/MWh and API2 coal is at down to 55 USD per tonne, while UK natural gas rose a bit to 23 GBP per therm. EURUSD is up to 1.1900.
