EUA prices jumped last week to almost 6 EUR/unit. Catalyst for the rapid price increase came from France when nuclear safety authority ordered a safety check of many French nuclear reactors. Possible outages from maintenance caused power prices to surge, but soon after, a new announcement calmed the markets because there was supposed to be no impact on power generation from maintenance checks.
